Feedback

Example answer

I was asked to give a teaching session on orthopaedic examinations to medical students. During the initial session I delivered this didactically. However, students stated that they would have preferred to have had a more informal practical session. I therefore recruited fellow trainees who were keen to teach, contacted the students and put on practical small group sessions.

Clinically I actively engage in reflective practice. Formally in my portfolio and with WBAs. In addition I discuss cases with peers.

From an academic point of view. After teaching I review feedback. In addition, as part of the train the trainer and Edward Jenner leadership program I was encouraged to reflect on leadership and teaching experiences.
I believe reflection helps us identify areas for improvement.

During the COVID pandemic I was asked to help out in A+E overnight.

I received a GRATIX for this work.

My communication, team-working and organisation skills were commended. These will be important skills when acting as a ST3 in Orthopaedics
