Improving Surgical Training report

Report that states trainees should:

1 – Spend >2/3 of time in training activities 
2 – Enhanced role training for educators/trainers 
3 – Non medical workforce to reduce service needs 
4 – Reduce on call rota frequency 
5 – Run through to improve continuity of training 
6 – Simulation to enhance and focus skill acquisition

Trainees are unhappy because of a:

  • Misbalance between training and service provision.
  • Lack of work life balance
  • Pay

Speak about how you have sought to improve this e.g. good rota design if you’ve been rota coordinator or participate in extra-curriculars to maintain work life balance and reduce stress.
